Two-day long ‘Safe Street Food Festival’ organized by Padakhep Manabik Unnayan Kendra begins at Suchona Community Center in Dhaka. Visitors availed an array of mouth-watering street food, prepared with safe ingredients and complying with hygiene practices. Festival was continued from October 15 till October 16 of 2022 and the gates remained open from 11:00 AM till 8:00 PM during the festival.

Padakhep Manabik Unnayan Kendra inaugurated ‘Safe Street Food Festival’ with the participation of beneficiary enterprises of sub-project “Safe Street Food Management Practices” under PKSF’s “Sustainable Enterprise Project (SEP)” which is financed by The World Bank. Street food vendors trained and supported under this project, presented the festival offering delicious street food items for the visitors. Beneficiary entrepreneurs of ‘Promotion of Environment Friendly Diversified Handicrafts’ project also participated the festival to showcase their creative creations.

‘Safe Street Food Festival’ has been inaugurated by Mr. Md. Fazlul Kader, Additional Managing Director of PKSF. He says ‘Street food has become part of culture for many countries. Bangladesh is also shifting towards that trend. There is growing demand for affordable, safe and healthy street food. Existing street food vendors can cater this growing demand by transforming and upgrading their practices.’

Founder and President of Padakhep Mr. A.B.M Siddique said, “Positive change towards safe and hygienic food preparation practices is already visible with the beneficiaries of Promotion of Safe Street Food Management Practices project. We are encouraging youths to explore their career into this arena for sustainable change.”

Ms. Nahid Akter EC Member of Padakhep, Mr. Md. Saleh Bin Sums, Executive Director, Padakhep and Mr. Muhammad Risalat Siddique, Director of Padakhep, Joint Director of Program Wing of Padakhep Mr. Moniruzzaman Siddique were also present during the event.
